If the theme of the festival is drums, Ferit Odman is one of the first names that come to mind. The lyric master of jazz drumming is going to play his second album Autumn in New York for the first time. The album and the repertoire is influenced by diverse periods and currents of jazz. It covers a period from 1950s' and 1960s' hard-bop pieces until today.
In the concert 4 star musicians are going to accompany Ferit Odman: İmer Demirer in trumpet, Vincent Herring who comes from New York for this concert in saxophone, Burak Bedikyan in piano and Kağan Yıldız in acoustic bass.
Born in 1982 Ferit Odman graduated from İstanbul Bilgi Universty Jazz Performance Department with full scholarship in 2001. He attended the School for Improvisation workshops in NYC (2004), and has been granted a Fulbright Scholarship to further build on his studies at William Paterson University (2006). In New York he studied with jazz greats like Mulgrew Miller, Harold Mabern and Bill Goodwin and he holds a M.M. (Master of Music) degree in Jazz Performance. He recorded his two albums Nommo (2010) and Autumn in New York (2011) in New York. Recently he performs with his groups and Kerem Görsev.
We would like to thank the sponsors of the festival for this concert.
