The music of this unique combination emerges from a common source'”the frame drum, an integral part of Indian and Turkish music traditions. We would like to thank GOETHE-INSTITUT for supporting the Rhythms in Dialogue project and the sponsors of the festival for supporting this concert.
The irrepressible delight in performing and the boundless fun in exploring when the musicians drum, sing, and dance all create a totally new synthesis: effortlessly the Turkish singing merges with the Roma dance of the Balkans, the Persian trance rhythms become funky hip-hop grooves and Indian beats mix with Mediterranean feelings.
All the musicians possess a convincing knowledge of their own musical traditions and a virtuosity and mastery of their instruments. With humor, charm, and spontaneity, 'Tamburi Mundi' project presents their new program The Rhythms in Dialogue with an irresistible magic of beating drums.
