Turkish Air Forces Eagles of Jazz Orchestra
In 1961, the Orchestra was founded with the name Turkish Air Forces Jazz and Dance Orchestra. The Orchestra has performed at many national and international events and radio-TV shows, receiving much acclaim from critic. Lieutenant colonel Stanley, the trumpetist of the Glenn Miller Orchestra admired the Orchestra and contributed with bringing a repertoire made of timeless pieces. The Orchestra was awarded as The Orchestra of the Year in 1969, 1970, and 1974. The name of the orchestra has changed with the directive of the Air Force Commander Faruk Cömert, as Eagles of Jazz. Orchestra has been performing for Opening of Ankara Jazz Festival since 2005. Ankara Jazz Society is proudly contributing to the repertoire, and every year bringing a Turkish Jazz Master as a guest star to the Orchestra.
