Alexandre Frazão Trio "TGB Project'
Sergio Carolino tuba
Mario Delgado g
Alexandre Frazão d
The group formed by Mario Delgado in guitar, Sergio Carolino in tuba and Alexandre Frazão in drums have attracted jazz magazines' attention with their albums TGB (Tuba Guitarra e Bateria) (2004) and Evil Things (2010). Delgado has a style that accommodates influences from rock, jazz, country and traditional Mediterranean music which shows itself in improvisations. Carolino goes parallel with Delgado's tunes with his highly technical style and keeps the jazz-rock balance in the group. Frazão, who has played with famous musicians like Maria Joao and Mario Laginha, whom we have hosted in last year's festival, is the driving force of the band.
Clifford Allan from All about Jazz magazine states 'Delgado, Carolino, and Frazão would probably hate to hear it uttered, but if "fusion" really equals synthesis, then they have created one of the most valuable fusion records of the past thirty years.'
We would like to thank the EMBASSY OF PORTUGAL and TURKISH-AMERICAN ASSOCIATION for supporting this concert.
