The festival tradition is not broken, Turkish Air Forces Eagles of Jazz Orchestra is greeting the jazz lovers with a magnificent opening concert. The jazz vocal stars of Turkey accompanying the orchestra are going to get together on one stage for the first time: Aydın Kahya, Jülide Özçelik, Meltem Ege, Sibel Köse, Yıldız İbrahimova and Zuhal Olcay. Eagles of Jazz, founded in 1961, is evolving steadily into a distinguished modern big band jazz orchestra since 1998, with the contributions of Bilbay Özay, one of the previous members and a trombonist. The orchestra had made recordings and performances with doyens of Turkish jazz and shares its knowledge with the young musicians.
At this year's concert, a parade of stars is accompanying the Eagles of Jazz: a musician and an academician who sets his heart on jazz as a vocal and trombonist Aydın Kahya, a voice that evoked admiration with the Jazz Istanbul albums Jülide Özçelik, an award winning jazz star graduated from Berklee College of Music as summa cum laude student Meltem Ege, one of the first names that comes to mind among the jazz musicians in Turkey and the pride of Ankara Sibel Köse, a world-known improvisation master Yıldız İbrahimova, and a vocal merging her mastery in acting with music Zuhal Olcay.
